Eat at fast food restaurants. They are the least expensive and you don’t have to leave tips. Don’t use the telephone in your room. Use your cell phone to make calls. If you rent a car, don’t buy the gas near the airport. Airport gas stations are charge more for gas. Buy your gas a little further from the airport to save money. Take some snacks from home with you. For example, cereal bars are nutritious and are easy to pack. Make sure you have enough film with you so you don’t have to pay sky high prices at the resort. Same goes for suntan lotion and other small items you’ll need.
I just wrote an article about this on Ezine Articles and my site.
I think you have to start saving money b4 you leave for the trip. Drive if possible. Use Priceline (name your price) or Hotwire to book your hotel and car rental. The money you save doing this will give you more flexibility when spending on your vacation. Not sure what type of vacation your are taking, but food and theme park tickets will cost the most money. If you can book a room w/ a full kitchen and prepare breakfast and dinner in your room. Pizza for dinner is also a money saver. But definitely avoid sit-down dinners every night and don’t drink, not even pop LOL.
Happy Travels!!
If you’re going to Disney World or any of the parks:
-Bring breakfast items with you. (ex: granola bars and dry cereal) this will not only save you over $ 200 for your whole trip but it will also save you time in the morning.
-Set aside a certain amount for souveneiers for your entire trip and don’t go over that amount. All children and some adults get a little souveneir crazy and overspend in that department, especially since Disney has gift shops every 10 ft. Be prepared.
Consider having groceries delivered from Garden Grocer the day you check in. You can have cereal, bread, milk, juice, lunch meat, snacks, bottled water etc all delivered to your room. (just make sure your fridge in the room is big enough). Eat cereal in the mornings, then pack a lunch to take the the parks. Rent a locker when you get to the park for $ 5 and store your lunch in there. Then eat out for dinner.
You can also use the cafeteria’s microwave or toasters, so plan around that as well.
