go to all your churches around you. they will donate all the money they collect from masses. hope this helps. and good luck to you and your friend

Contact major retailers. Explain the situation and see if they will help you raise funds. Local shops also. You have to contact as many as possible as these shops and venders see the public all day more then you can ever approach.
Charity and sponser events would be a good way to get money quick.Maybe if you get a few friends together and organise an event were people donate money.
Simply apply for a loan and you will have the money alright.
Make sure you ask him and his family first! It’s very thoughtful of you, but keep in mind that they might not want the publicity that comes with a fundraiser. You can also help by just continuing to be his friend, offering to do things the family might not have time for (like buying their groceries), planning something fun but relaxing to do together, etc.
As far as fundraisers, maybe a bake sale or making support bracelets for him and selling them, penny war, asking that part of the profit for an event (like a school sports game that charges admission) go to his treatment are some ideas.
